I love to use Malibu rum for my bay breeze. There are several spin off drinks from this classic cocktail. The bay breeze cocktail is a simple mixed drink containing either vodka or rum, cranberry juice, and pineapple juice. Shake or stir to mix and garnish with a lime circle or wedge. I personally prefer to make mine more pineapple heavy, which is popular among many modern bartenders as well. Then just drop the spent wedge into the cocktail if you like. According to the International Bartenders Association (IBA) the Bay Breeze is made up of: 2 ounces vodka. The sea breeze can also be shaken and strained over fresh ice. Add a little ice to the pitcher or pour it over ice in the glass. Large Batch This drink recipe calls for equal parts Malibu rum, pineapple juice, and cranberry juice. For example, to fill a 60-ounce pitcher, combine 11 ounces (1 1/3 cups) vodka, 30 ounces (3 3/4 cups) cranberry juice, and 10 ounces (1 1/4 cups) grapefruit juice. You can use whichever type of liquor you prefer. Liquor This recipe is for a Malibu Bay Breeze however, a Bay Breeze typically consist of vodka. If you prefer to squeeze it straight into the drink, a wedge about ¼ of a small lime will make roughly this much juice. Citrus Add a squeeze of lime for an additional burst of citrus flavor. Then add 4-5 ounces of cranberry juice cocktail. Shake, then strain into a glass and serve. Alternately, you can use a cocktail shaker- place the ice and other ingredients in the shaker. Give it a stir, garnish with a lime, and serve. Add 4-ounces of grapefruit juice, 2-ounces of cranberry juice and 1 1/2-ounces of vodka. Pour 2 ounces of vodka into a highball glass filled with fresh ice cubes. Fill an 8-ounce glass halfway with ice cubes. Make sure you have everything to make the cocktail first, including fresh ice. If you make it a few times you will get a feel for the pour and can adjust to your personal taste.
